Crunch time at work, wasn't able to do anything. Today though, finally had time to look into doing some practice blending pencils. I recently acquired Drawing: From Life To Line by Mike Sibley (http://www.sibleyfineart.com/) and it is probably the best book on how to approach drawing fur and tone I've ever read.

This book gives detail on the technical side of drawing, such as how to blend tones, tools of the trade, paper types, and so much more that other books only gloss over.

Highly recommended for pencil technique, thought it is fairly pricey.
