31st May 2010
Was at the UK Wolf Trust today, dang it is really difficult to get the hang of drawing live moving critters. Did a fair few more pages but I think they are quite bad :D

Bought a 0.3mm pen today and am experimenting gestures with it. Other pages are worse so not posting :3

27th May 2010
Pretty good class today, warmed up using 2 min quick sketches, then moved on to some 10 min stuff before a half hour long draw (Which somehow I totally messed up) - quick break then a few 10 minute exercises like negative space, triangulation, tonal studies (2nd pic above). Still cannot get the person properly into the drawing omg. I suck.

Keeping at the gesture studies, trying to get lines that make sense for the movement of the subject, as well as trying to put in some lines to represent form properly.

Aieee! Forgot to post!
Was at the Brit Museum for a few hours trying to apply the gesture studies to the greek statues, some work some don't, I'm not feeling the flow of the motion from certain angles, or I'm just too distracted by the details.
Today was at Eagle Heights wildlife park, and did a few quick quick gestures with the live animals, quite difficult but yet there is this feel you don't get from a sculpture or photograph.
Not in a rush with this; going to take my time :3

I'm pretty pleased with how the top sketch came out, though for the 2nd one below I really, really need to remind myself to step back, and look for proportion issues from afar. Also, need to look at the form of the subject from multiple angles. I now know better than to draw from photos.

Didn't upload the saturday's sketches as I was too involved playing Dragon Age on my PS3 :D Thankfully I managed an afternoon practicing in the brit museum.
Darned games, I had better not get another rpg. I tend to get very consumed with finding out how the storyline finishes and get a bit.. engrossed :-/
And the cat for today :D

Trying to figure out construction.
The dying horse sculpture again. A bit squished in the Y axis.
That pair of odd critters guarding the entryway.

Using some triangulation to get the rough size in, then correcting it. Still working out how to shade the curvature of the surface.

1st May 2010
Went to the National Portrait Gallery with a bunch of artists to sketch the busts at level two. Or at least, I _attempted_ to ;-)
Didn't really get far today, and after the first hour, I took a break to nom some carrot cake with a pot of earl grey, then went back and attempted to just do the face ala Bridgman. After doing that for another hour or so, and just not seeing much, I went on ahead to just do some shading practice and observe how an ear is constructed.
Later, I did a few more sketches for identifying planes using light and shadow, and a bit of gresture practice.
